MELISSA CHATTMAN, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice in New York City, who serves children, adolescents, and young adults in individual, group, and family therapy.
I received my Master’s Clinical degree from Columbia University’s School of Social Work. I received advanced training and certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Post graduate school, I was trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy at Mind Well Institute and Applied Behavioral Analysis at City Pro.
I have significant clinical experience and advanced training working in a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, and mental health outpatient clinics. The training that I have has enabled me to treat clients with a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, eating disorders, trauma, relationship stress, and self-harming propensities. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults.
As a clinician, I firmly believe that a strong and an authentic therapeutic relationship is the key to successful treatment. Trained in several therapeutic modalities, including TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Relational Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Approach, I work collaboratively with my clients and utilize traditional psychotherapy combined with evidence-based interventions to meet each individuals’ concerns, challenges, strengths and goals.
